PC & Network Audit

This involved process is a complete check up of all computers on the network, and the network infrastructure itself, and gives us a snapshot of the current state and health of your computer network. This step provides a necessary foundation for proposals for further work, because we now know the exact details of your network. It also results in the creation of the Network Discussion Topics. This second document outlines any areas of importance that require urgent attention and allows both you and CSI to quickly grasp the current state of your computer network.

Is the current network infrastructure able to handle present peak loads adequately? What percentage of excess network bandwidth is available? How much future expansion will this allow for? We can design and implement a suitable cost effective solution for you and your business.

Preventative Maintenance Plans

A well constructed and carefully implemented maintenance plan will ensure that the computer system involved is being looked after in the best possible way. Our range of Maintenance Plans are designed to be customised to fit your unique business requirements perfectly.

Monthly Server / Desktop System Check

Our 12 point checklist is designed to ensure your Server / Desktop system is being maintained correctly and functioning at optimum performance. This plan can also be applied to any other mission critical computers in your business.

Registry Clean

The Windows Registry should be regularly cleaned and any errors located should be repaired with the use of appropriate software tools. This item is important for any computer, and vital for servers.

Log File Check

Has anyone recently checked all log files for the System, Security, and Applications for the past month? Made notes of all errors and looked deeply at all errors that appear more than 3 times a month? Have they researched their cause so that a repair can be implemented? We will do that and also glance over the rest of the log file and read each of the Warnings that appear. A copy of these files will be saved elsewhere for archive purposes.

Hard Disk Check

A complete Disk Check or Scandisk & Defrag should be regularly run when possible to check for disk errors and file structure truncations.

General System File Cleanup

We can verify that all appropriate temporary files and cookies are deleted, and all other appropriate housekeeping tasks are undertaken.

SECURITY AND VIRUS SOLUTIONS

Internal Security

Are there the minimum sufficient users created with only the access they require to accomplish their tasks? Have old employees been removed from the current access control lists? Have current users been given only the permissions they require to conduct everyday work?

Spyware Removal

Confirm that all spyware, adware and possible browser hijackings are removed with the updating and scanning with appropriate software. Ensure that you are not vulnerable to further attacks in the future.

Anti Virus

Both the Anti Virus product and its relevant definitions should be updated regularly, weekly at least. The hard drive should be completely scanned at least monthly, just after an update.

Updates

We will confirm that all available Service Packs, Patches, and Hot Fixes have been installed. Not just for the Operating system, but for the Office Applications, Web Browser, and other regularly utilised software packages.

Firewall Installation and Configuration

We will verify that a Firewall is installed and correctly configured. This is done using both an internal and an external test procedure which will ensure that your network is as safe as you want it to be. We prefer you to know of all vulnerabilities before a hacker does.

BACK UP PLANS

Backup Plans

We will check the backup procedure to ensure that all backups have completed successfully, and check at least 1 concurrent week of backup logs will be examined to ensure that some files are not being missed repeatedly.

We will also ensure that all backed up files are accessible by randomly restoring a file form each week backup to verify the data integrity.

Redundancy Review

How prone is your computer network to hardware failure? Will it cripple your office workflow? We can evaluate this and report possible alter natives. Do you backup the System State monthly, and create a ghost image of the server at least every 6 months.
